EXTRACTS FROM OPINION, DATED DECEMBER 17, 2023:
“From my experience, based mainly on neurosurgery, I must admit that most medical procedures can be performed without blood transfusion. … I have very positive experience regarding treating of Jehovah’s Witnesses patients. The fact that there is a Hospital Liaison Committee allows to familiarize the team with the facts of the specific case regarding methods and the alternatives to transfusion and/or patient’s blood management. Therefore, subsequent meetings with patients or their parents are calm and often allow making decisions regarding the method of treatment that are best for both parties. In fact, my experience shows that Jehovah’s Witnesses are caring parents and in difficult or even tragic situations they behave with dignity.” (Original in Polish.)
