EXTRACTS FROM OPINION, DATED DECEMBER 12, 2023:
“In my experience, it is clear that performing the overwhelming majority of medical procedures is possible without blood transfusion. In some cases, it is possible to assume that not implementing blood therapy in certain patients leads to a smoother and faster recovery than in a group of patients treated with blood transfusion.
Jehovah’s Witnesses patient group is in fact a group that is very well informed on the subject of treatment with blood substitutes; they are aware of all the risks and complications associated with transfusion of blood and above all they do not agree to this type of therapy for religious reasons with all the consequences.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are very dedicated and caring parents regardless of the situation and perhaps even more so at the time of danger. From my experience of treating children of Jehovah’s Witnesses, there is only one conclusion boiling down to the fact that it is always and unquestionably necessary to respect their will without excessive comments and attempts to persuade them to violate elementary canons of their faith.” (Original in Polish.)
